Types of services offered by BFI Wien
VET and TVET training is provided in various forms, some of which are innovative and unique:
- Standardized VET/TVET in regulated occupations, provided to youth in form of apprenticeship training ("dual system"), under the government training guarantee scheme (see below for further information)
- "Skilled workers Intensive training‟ (FIA): workers adaptability and re-training programme implemented in a modular system which allows entry of new participants every 14 days (VET and TVET Training Austria)
- General courses for furthering professional qualifications, skills upgrading, skills certifications
- Production school for in-depth professional orientation of youth
- Training companies
- Second – Chance education for the completion of minimum qualification level and bridging the gap to further education
- Berufsreifeprüfung (general qualification for university entrance)
- In-company trainings
- Secondary level training in commercial schools
- Tertiary level training in BFI Wien's University of Applied Sciences
Labour market activation measures are offered in various forms in order to facilitate labour market re-integration of unemployed persons:
- Individual occupational counselling and job-application support for various target groups (e.g. targeted at specific age groups or levels of existing qualification)
- Career planning and re-orientation under labour foundation schemes
A labour foundation is designed to contribute to the vocational reorientation and upskilling of unemployed people and to facilitate their reintegration into the labour market.
The target group are unemployed persons, whose jobs have become redundant because of restructuring policies or economic difficulties.
There are two key elements in labour foundation schemes: 1) targeted, market-driven skills training of participants and 2) involvement of affected companies and labour market actors to target the skills training to real needs of companies and the regional labour market. The scheme has been introduced by the social partners to support necessary structural changes and related adjustments through appropriate labour market policies.
Main types of labour foundations:
- Inplacement foundation: is a special programme provided by one or several enterprises in a region or sector affected by special manpower shortages. The aim is to develop and implement tailor-made (re)integration pathways within a comprehensive range of assistance measure.
- Outplacement foundation: is a targeted skills enhancement programme carried out in cooperation with the employer.)
- Not-for-profit personnel leasing with the objective of re-integrating (long-term) unemployed persons into the labour market
- Basic skills training for specific target groups (e.g. migrants)
