Training SMEs on E-Commerce (Lifelong Learning Programme 2008 – 2010)


Training SMEs on E-Commerce (KOBETIC) is a Transfer of Innovation Project in the frame of Lifelong Learning Programme. KOBETIC aims to improve the e-Commerce training in Turkey, by transferring and further elaborate the products of FIT-for e-Commerce, a project lead by BFI Wien.

There was a significant growth within trade conducted electronically, since the spread of the Internet. Recent surveys and job advertisements have shown that there is more and more demand for employees with specific skills on e-Commerce.

The project specifically aims at developing the e-Commerce qualifications of employees and increase e-Commerce activities among SMEs of specific sectors in Turkey. The long-term objective is to ensure skilled labour, with accurate und up-to-date knowledge on e-Commerce.

Within the project the Fit-for e-Commerce training programme and materials will be further developed and adapted to the specific needs in Turkey. There will be also a special consideration of the Turkish VET system. In the projects frame following will be developed: a training programme, adequate teaching materials and pilot tests.

The project is lead by the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. BFI Wien, the Istanbul Commerce University, ITC – Europe, a Consulting Institute from Brussels and the Export Promotion Centre of Foreign trade (IGEME) are partner organisations in this project. The overall budget is 320.979,-- Euro.
